Welcome to the official home of the GENDA MPOLA CHALLENGE — Uganda’s national youth-led road safety campaign
A Campaign Led by Genda Mpola Initiative Ltd in partnership with the Ministry of Works & Transport (MoWT), Uganda Police, and the Ministry of Health
The Problem:
Road safety remains one of Uganda’s most pressing public health challenges. The Ministry of Health and Police statistics confirm that over 4,000 lives are lost and over 25,000 crashes occur annually. The majority of victims are youth and motorcycle riders (boda-bodas). This public health crisis is exacerbated by low awareness and limited public engagement.
The Solution:
The GENDA MPOLA Challenge is designed to transform the Luganda phrase “Genda Mpola” (Go slow) into a nationwide creative movement for road safety. We are building a new approach that combines enforcement support with popular culture, youth creativity, and mass mobilization.
Public participation is at the heart of the campaign. We invite you to be the voice of road safety!
Your composition can address any road safety theme. You are encouraged to perform in your local language and style
The campaign will climax with a grand national event recognizing champions of road safety.
